The concept of identity has always been present in contemporary and modern Puerto Rican art. Due to the complexities of our political system and relations to other cultures in general, and the United States culture in particular, the search for who we are as a culture is an eternal and elusive pursuit but one that almost every contemporary artist has explored in their craft. The goal of this web site is to arouse interest and educate the public about the modern and contemporary art movement in Puerto Rico. It is in no way an exhaustive resource, but one that will hopefully represent our culture, struggle, and accomplishments and its contribution to the fabric of the global art movement.
